Settled in the 1830s, the town of Flower Mound derives its name from a 50-foot-tall pristine hill covered in wildflowers, known today simply as The Mound. Approximately 30 miles north of Dallas and Fort Worth in southwestern Denton County, Flower Mound was incorporated in February 1961.
Recreational enthusiasts find a variety of outdoor opportunities here, including parkland, multipurpose trails, Lewisville Lake and Grapevine Lake on the town's southern border.
