After the original 1858 courthouse burned, a new courthouse was built in 1887 of slate bricks handmade near the site. It is one of the oldest such buildings in Texas. Open 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Mon.–Fri. 204 E. St. Mary St. 936/ 436-4915.
