Boerne (pronounced BER-nee) was founded in 1849 by a group of German settlers who aspired to create their own version of Thomas Moore's Utopia. Named after European political refugee Ludwig Boerne, the little town was situated on Cibolo Creek. Boerne is home to some of the oldest historic sites in the area, and it is rich with German heritage--the annual Berges Fest in June and The Boerne Village Band's summer Abendkonzerte series are proof. Stroll down Hauptstrasse (Main Street) and experience shops, dining options and a local brewery. Boerne's arts community includes dozens of galleries, arts and music events, and a community theater. Resorts, conference centers, bed-and-breakfasts, inns and hotels are available.
Events include the Kendall County Fair, Weihnachts Fest, Dickens on Main, Boerne Market Days, Wings over Boerne, Harvest Moon Celebration, Parade of Artists, Summer Scene concerts, Best of BoerneFest, Key to the Hills Rod Run and Texas Corvette Show.
