Yorktown

Region: Prairies and Lakes

First settler, 1846, was John York. Indianola Trail to San Antonio, surveyed in 1848, went by the York home. Czech and Polish immigrants settled the area, and greetings are often given in those languages today. Area is known for outstanding displays of wildflowers, birding and wild game hunting. The famous Western Days Festival on the third full weekend in October features cook-offs, parades, rodeo, live music, carnival and more.
