Region: Big Bend Country

Del Rio bills itself as "The Best of the Border." It is the seat of Val Verde (green valley) County with more than 3,000 square miles. Agriculture includes cattle ranching, extensive production of sheep, lambs, wool and mohair from Angora goats. Abundant hunting for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, javelina, dove and quail. Fishing, boating and water sports on Amistad Reservoir. Home of Southwest Texas Jr. College and Sul Ross State Univ. Rio Grande College.
