Established in 1870 and named for Ebenezer Allen, former attorney general of Texas. In 1880, notorious outlaw Sam Bass supposedly committed first train robbery in state here. Today, vibrant community growing rapidly due to economic growth of nearby Dallas and location of nearby Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Bethany Lakes Park features large stocked fishing pond, picnic tables, trail and playground. Chase Oaks Golf Club is municipally owned 18-hole course.
