Take the glass-bottom boat or kayak ride to view the bubbling springs and an excavation site from which artifacts dating as far back as 12,000 years have been recovered. The Endangered Species Exhibit provides an up-close look at the species that live only in the San Marcos River. There is birding at the "Wetlands Boardwalk" exhibit, just outside the park. Open daily. Hours vary by season. No admission charge to the center, but there is a fee for the boat ride. 512/245-7570 . www.aquarena.txstate.edu .
